I've been into makeup for years now. Thinking back, it probably started when I went to my Uncle's place one time and saw all the cosmetics my three older cousins had, stuffed in huge makeup bags. I was so curious about why they had so much of this stuff and what it was used for. At first I though that the makeup bags were actually pencil cases filled with strange looking stationary haha...
I've been using makeup almost on a daily basis since I was 15, though it was mainly just BB cream and Eyeliner, and the older I get, the more I understand why my cousins had so many products :P It's not even about needing it or having the idea of using something everyday, it's more like wanting to add something to a collection, something new and pretty that you can look at and think 'that's mine'.
I have had my eye on MAC for a while now and I know that they have some really good/raved products (e.g. their pigments, studio fix foundation, lipsticks, fix+ etc etc.). However, I had never tried any of their products before because I always thought that they would be too much for me. It was probably too much of a generalisation, but I always had the impression that MAC wouldn't be suitable for me since I mostly try to stay with a light natural look. And laziness is definitely the main factor for this decision.
Anyway, I had decided to go with one of my closest friends to her uni ball and the theme was 'Sex and the City'. As soon as I found out about this, I decided it was time to step out of my comfort zone a little and just go for it. So I made a makeup appointment with MAC counter in the Brisbane City David Jones. The makeup appointment price was $95, but it was fully redeemable to I was able to use the credit to get the lipstick+ matching liner that I had my eye on (Lipstick shade: Mehr, Lipliner shade: Soar), as well as the 'Soft and Gentle' skin finisher that Luke, the MUA, recommended to me :D
Quite honestly, I was super super super happy with how my makeup turned out that day! Since I had never tried such a heavy eye makeup look before, I was a bit worried that it wouldn't turn out that good...BUT! Thankfully it turned out awesome! It was heaps different to what how I usually look, but the MUA did such a good job.
The base makeup made my skin look so smooth and glowy and flawless, which was a feat in itself since I was actually breaking out that day... MY SKIN ALWAYS BREAKS OUT WHEN I NEED IT TO LOOK GOOD THE MOST π_π
(The stress of needing to look good ends up making me look worse...)
I really loved the eye makeup as well <3 The main reason why I was nervous about it was because I didn't know for sure if the MUA would be able to adjust the makeup to suit my Asian as eyes -.-', and I thought I would turn out looking like a transvestite...YES it has happened before...hahaha
But Luke did such a great job and I was really happy with everything YAY~
