So on Saturday, I was invited along to a special Valentine's Day event at W cosmetics. They had organised a little workshop to demonstrate and show off some of their latest and most popular products. The products in focus were spread out, and Linda (the manager) introduced and explained the every item to us while demonstrating a step-by-step natural and sweet makeup look (perfect for the most romantic day of the year) using the selected products.
The stand out product for me was definitely the BB cream used, Dr G's Bright Brightening Balm. The finish looked absolutely amazing! It left the skin looking flawless yet in a translucent, natural kind of way. When I got home that night, I found that I actually had a sample of it which Linda had probably given to me during one of my spending frenzies at W Cosmetics. And I had just left it there untouched. So I've been trying it out and I love how it looks on me too. Will definitely be getting the full size one once I'm finished with the sample.

It was really a very informative session and I learnt a few new tips which I think everyone should know about.
1. During warmer weather, there is no need to apply lots of skincare products. If your skin is not too problematic, toner and ampoule will be sufficient.
2. Rather than using hands to apply toner, use a cotton pad as it is much more hygienic. If you really want to use hands, then try and get into the habit of disinfecting your hands beforehand. You may think that your hands are clean, but even there is bacteria even from just touching lids, vials, bottles etc. (Dr G's Aquasis toner was used)
3. When applying ampoule and serums, apply with clean hands. The warmth from them will open up your pores and help your skin absorb these products better. (Dr G's Aquasis ampoule was used)
4. When applying foundation, BB cream etc., Linda recommends using disposable makeup sponges. This is because sponges are hygienic, affordable, and does it's job of applying these products effectively.
5. Rather than using a bronzer when contouring, people with pale complexions should instead use a darker shade of foundation. This will help to make the blending process easier and give a more seamless result.
6. When applying blush, don't just apply on the apples of the cheeks, instead, using sweeping side-way V shaped strokes with a powder brush (the big fluffy ones) starting from the start of the cheekbone (close to the hairline, just below the temple) down to the apple of the cheek will highlight the cheekbones and give more them more definition.
7. Finish your base makeup with a light, transparent powder to seal everything and prevent the shiny look that likes to creep in towards the end of the day. But be very light handed with the powder, and also apply with a fluffy powder brush. Most of face powders will contain the ingredient Silica as it is known for absorbing moisture like sweat and oil. (Clio Self Balancing Face Powder was used)
8. When using eye shadow, it's better to use darker and lighter shades of the same colour group (e.g. light pinks and darker pinks) to create a more 3D, gradient effect. This will make the eyes look brightened and highlighted.
9. When applying eyeliner, first use a dark eye shadow to draw the desired line. Our eyelids produce oil which make it easy for eyeliner to smudge. The dark eye shadow will act as a kind of primer and help the eyeliner to stay on longer, smudge free.
A lovely face model, Chloe, assisted in the demonstration by putting her flawless(!!!) complexion into Linda's skillful hands.
