The what-y bath? That was exactly what I thought when I first found out about this.
I found out about this after stumbling around some blogs and after looking into a bit more, I found a video that explained the theory of it a bit more. Since Get It Beauty is a very popular show among Korean women and I have also watched it from time to time, I felt that I could believe that this was something legit haha.
I've included the video below for those interested in taking a look :D The part about Carbonated Water Face Bath starts at around the 3:21 minute mark.

So after all that, I decided to give it a go. It wasn't hard or expensive, and the theory behind it made sense to me (then again I'm convinced pretty easily and kind of gullible). Most importantly, it didn't seem like it would be harmful to my skin and it looked fun, so why not?
My experience:
The hardest thing about this was actually finding a bowl or container that could fit my face without having to waste too much water haha. After that, it was a really fun and interesting experience! I don't usually drink sparkling water because the carbonate (same as in fizzy drinks) is usually too much for me. This is also the main reason why I don't usually drink soft drinks or things like that. On top of the huge amount of sugar wrecking havoc on your teeth and body...
ANYWAY! So I went out to a nearby supermarket to get some carbonated water (called sparkling water in Australia AKA SW) which was really cheap! Around $2 for a 1.5L bottle. Then after taking a shower that night, I mixed the SW with normal tap water in the big bowl I found. Even though the ratio was 1:1 in the video, I decided to dilute the SW a bit more to cater for my slightly sensitive skin so it was more like 1.5:1.

When I first put my face in the water, it felt really strange (Sorry about the terrible photo quality BTW... I was lazy and just used my phone camera). It was like there was a slight tingling feeling as the bubbles popped on my face and I could feel my face getting hotter. After a few more attempts, I managed to keep it in the water for about 30 seconds, and after wiping the water away, my face felt really really clean. It's weird since it's just water and I wasn't exfoliating or rubbing my face or anything, but somehow...my face still felt cleaner than before... I might just be my imagination, or I might have some sort of subconscious expectation since I read about other people's experiences... But it was still an interesting experience :D
I've continued using this SW bath, but only once very week or two since I did find that it was a bit drying on my skin. Because of this, I usually follow the SW bath with a face mask. I think of it like... after getting my face nicely cleaned, if I use a face mask or some sort, maybe the newly cleaned pores will be able to absorb the nutrients from the mask better?
On a side note, my skin has actually been doing really well lately! It must be because I had completely 0% stress for the last few weeks and I ended up doing quite decently on my final exams for last semester (Woohoo!).
Let's hope it lasts!!!
